The gasket part inside this cap is very difficult to remove and clean. I notice also that it mildews fast EVEN after a thorough daily cleaning with soap, water, and small (sanitized) baby bottle brushes. I live in Seattle, have had this cap in use for 2 weeks ATOP a camelbak bottle and the mildewy smell persists. Aside, I did not order other types of camelbak bottle lid bc, again, they are so difficult to thoroughly clean. This isn't a problem with me, my mouth, my soap or brushes, quality of the tap water used to clean, method of drying, place of storage in my backpack, or sharing with other people's mouths (a practice I abhor). Rather, it has to do with the quality of gasket used by camelbak and the ease of keeping it clean.

Purchased new caps fir our older Camelbak containers. Was not aware that the tiny + sign meant a new cap thread pattern. Caps arrived upon which we immediately filled our Camelbaks with water just to check fit. Caps leaked. Customer service said we couldn’t return them because we tried them out. Note we hadn’t even washed them out or drank from them. We went to several sporting goods stores to look for caps that would fit. None of the store clerks were aware that the ‘tiny’ + sign indicated a new cap design. We purchased four new Hydra Flask bottles. Camelbak lost us as customers forever.
